㈜플라즈맵, KAIST 클리닉에 자체개발 의료기기 기증
㈜플라즈맵이 우리 대학에 수술기기의 저온 멸균 솔루션 제품을 기증했다.
지난 12일 본관 제2회의실에서 열린 기부약정식에는 임유봉 ㈜플라즈맵 대표와 최원호 원자력및양자공학과 교수와 이광형 총장이 참석했다.
㈜플라즈맵은 우리 대학 창업원에서 지원하여 코스닥에 상장한 첫 창업기업이다. 임유봉 대표이사는 KAIST 물리학과 졸업생으로 박사과정 재학 중이던 2015년 KAIST의 사업화도약과제(KAIST End-run project)의 지원을 받아 최원호 교수의 플라즈마 기술 고도화 연구를 성공적으로 수행하며 창업했다.
이후, 플라즈마 기술을 적용한 의료, 이차전지, 헬스케어 등 다양한 분야로 사업을 확대했다. 2018년 유럽 의료기기 인증과 함께 수출 중심의 매출을 이뤄내고 있으며, 2020년부터 매출이 매년 2배 이상 증가하는 기업으로 성장하고 있다.
㈜플라즈맵에서 기증한 제품은 수술기기의 저온 멸균 솔루션인 스터링크(STERLINK)와 액티링크(ACTILINK)로 KAIST 클리닉 치과에서 활용할 예정이다.
임유봉 대표는 “KAIST 기술이전으로 확보한 원천기술을 바탕으로 차별화된 제품을 개발해 빠르게 성장할 수 있었다”며, “글로벌 의료기기 시장에서 최고가 되겠다”는 포부를 밝혔다.
이광형 총장은 “(주)플라즈맵의 코스닥 상장은 KAIST 실험실 창업의 모범사례로 딥테크는 물론 일상생활에서도 유용하게 사용할 수 있는 다양한 혁신 제품을 개발해 세계적으로 발전해나가길 바란다 ”고 말했다.

Plasmapp Co. donates medical devices developed in-house to the KAIST Clinic
The donation agreement ceremony held on the 12th in the 2nd Conference Room of the Main Building was attended by Yoo-Bong Lim, the CEO of Plasmapp Co., Ltd., Professor Wonho Choe of the Department of Nuclear and Quantum Engineering, and President Kwang-Hyung Lee.
Plasmapp Co., Ltd. is the first start-up company that was supported by our university’s start-up center and listed on KOSDAQ. CEO Yoo-Bong Lim, a KAIST physics graduate, founded the company in 2015 while in his Ph.D. program, successfully carrying out advanced research on plasma technology under Professor Wonho Choe with the support of KAIST’s Business Leap Project (KAIST End-run project).
Since then, the company has expanded its business into various fields, including medical, secondary batteries, and healthcare, by applying plasma technology. Starting in 2018, with European medical device certification, it has been achieving export-oriented sales and has been growing as a company with sales doubling every year since 2020.
The products donated by Plasmapp Co., Ltd. are STERLINK and ACTILINK, which are low-temperature sterilization solutions for surgical instruments, and are planned to be used in the KAIST Clinic Dental Department.
CEO Yoo-Bong Lim stated, “We were able to grow quickly by developing differentiated products based on the core technology secured through KAIST’s technology transfer,” and expressed his ambition to become the best in the global medical device market.
President Kwang-Hyung Lee said, “The listing of Plasmapp Co., Ltd. on KOSDAQ is a model case of KAIST laboratory start-ups. I hope it will develop globally by developing various innovative products that can be usefully used not only in deep tech but also in everyday life.”
